Ten years ago I paid 50 cents for three Bird of Paradise seeds at Disney. They got a start in the house and then I planted them out in front.
They just kept growing into an awkward green plant and then, eight years after the planting, near my Septemer birthday  we were amazed to see the beginnings of  two flowers!!!!  We were thrilled!!!
Then came the winter frost and all was frozen.  In dispair we cut the plants down to the roots. Today I took this photo!   Hoping that what we see in the two other plants may be  the beginning of more blossoms!!! What a delight to watch the flower colors fan out of it's shell for well over a month. All this gives me great encouragement in my walk with Jesus.
I was 14 on a rainy night in Boston when my mother and I tied our kerchiefs around our heads and took the subway to the Boston Opera House.  We found seats on the fourth balcony while 200 people stood outside to listen over the load speaker to Billy Graham.  I had no idea that God would plant the seed of His Holy Spirit in my life that night. I walked out with a sense of being of scrubbed clean inside with a new Friend by my side and a gospel of John in my hand.  I had read through the Bible in my confirmation class not understanding a word but as I read that little book that night the words just jumped off the pages.... and it has been that way ever since -  walking with my Jesus friend and my Bible.   Over the years  that same Holy Spirit seed has filled my life with color and the flower is still fanning out. But I found more...In I Corinthians 15;38 there is a future promise about that seed... the Message bible saya. . ."You could never guess what a tomato would look like by looking at a tomato seed.  What we plant in the soil and what  grwos out of it don't look anything alike.  The dead body that we bury in the ground and the resurrection body that comes from it will be dramatically different.  Just as there are different kinds of seeds, there are different kinds of bodies - humans, animals, birds, fish..each unprecedented in its form.  vs 42 says "This image of planting a dead seed and raising a live plant is a mere sketch at best, but perhaps it will help in approaching the mystery of the resurrection body...raised for good, alive forever!!!"
WE HAVE SO MUCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO... that dead seed is just the beginning!!!!
